Setup guide

From invite to a fully set up server. Everything here happens on the dashboard.

Add Astro

Use the invite link and pick your server. The invite asks for the permissions moderation needs. Keep Astro's role above the roles it should be able to moderate, since Discord won't let a bot act on anyone at or above its own role.

Nothing is switched on by default apart from slash commands, so adding Astro next to another bot is safe.

Open the dashboard

Go to astro.pcdev.dev/panel, sign in with Discord and pick your server. You'll see every server where you have Manage Server. In Discord, /dashboard gives a direct link.

Changes are saved with the bar at the bottom and reach the bot within a few seconds.

Set your moderation log

On Overview, pick a Moderation log channel. Every case is posted there as a card, with History, Unban and Unmute buttons. Pick an Event log too for joins, edits, deletes and the rest; the Logging page lets you split events across channels and ignore some channels or roles.

Moderator roles

On Staff, choose which roles are moderators. There are three levels, and each includes the one below:

  • Staff can warn, add notes, and use /modlogs, /cases, /case and /whois.
  • Supervisors can also mute, kick, purge, lock, set slowmode and edit cases.
  • Admins can do everything, including bans and locking the whole server.

Anyone with the matching Discord permission can always use the command. The same page can require a reason on every action and decide whether DMs name the moderator.

AutoMod

The AutoMod page has the main filters at the top and More filters below. Each filter can delete, delete and warn, mute, kick or ban, and has Options for its own message, log channel and exemptions.

Turn on Scams and hacked accounts first. It catches lookalike Discord and Steam links, free-Nitro bait, and the same message sent to three or more channels in a minute, which is what a hacked account does.

Under Repeat offenders, set what happens to someone who keeps tripping filters, for example a 1 hour mute after 3 hits in 10 minutes.

Auto punish

On Warnings, set Auto punish to Points. Each kind of case is worth points (warn 1, mute 2, kick 3 by default), and you add rules like 3 points in 7 days: mute for 60 minutes. A rule fires on the case that crosses its line, so nobody is punished twice for the same threshold.

A case voided with /editcase stops counting. /points shows where someone stands.

Ban appeals

On Appeals, turn on Take appeals and pick a channel. From then on, ban DMs carry an Appeal button. It opens a form with your questions (up to five), and the answers arrive in your channel with Accept and Deny. Accepting unbans them; either way they get a DM.

You can set how long someone waits after a denial, whether temp bans can be appealed, and ban reasons that can never be appealed.

Reports

On Reports, pick a channel. Members right-click a message and choose Apps, then Report Message, or use /report for a person. You can add suggested reasons, block a role from reporting, and have a message deleted once enough different people report it.

Verification

On Verification, turn it on, pick the channel for the Verify button, and a role to give when someone passes (or an unverified role to take away). Set a minimum account age to stop brand new accounts.

Roblox verification is coming soon. It will be free like everything else.

Forms, suggestions and the rest

The Community pages cover tickets, forms, suggestions, the starboard, self roles, auto replies and scheduled messages. Each one only needs a channel to start. Bot profile under Server gives Astro its own nickname, avatar and banner in your server.
